This is the website of the RAF Waddington Amateur Radio Club, based at the Pyewipe Inn, Lincoln, England.
We are a group of individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience, all with a shared passion
for everything radio! Not sure what amateur radio is?
Find out all about it at the
Radio Society of Great Britain.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our site and look forward to meeting you on a club night or on the air.
RAF Waddington ARC ran a Special Event Station GB0EEL on the
weekend of 2-3 August 2024 at former RAF Binbrook. This was the 70th
anniversary of the first test flight on 4th August 1954, from RAF Boscombe Down, of the English Electric P1A
(WG760), the type that was later to become the English Electric Lightning, piloted by English Electric’s chief
test pilot Wing Commander Roland Beaumont.
RAF Waddington was proud to return to the IBCC
as they commemorated International Bomber Command Day on Thursday, 25th July with a Service of Remembrance. We were operational between
09:00-16:00 BST, operating on 40m and 2m FM.
RAF Waddington Amateur Radio Club operated from Lincolnshire Wolds Railway
on Sunday, 7th July commemorating the 6ZZ centenary.
On 5th July 1924 amateur radio station 6ZZ was established on a train travelling from King’s Cross to
Newcastle-on-Tyne to test if two-way communication could be established between an amateur radio station
on a moving train and amateur radio stations at fixed locations.
Club members once again enjoyed the club barbecue, held as usual outside the Pyewipe
shack. We were treated to very nice burgers and sausages, cooked as usual by our
talented chefs John, SWL and Chris, 2E0BMA, together with extra goodies provided by
Andy, M0IYE.
The club will hold a committee meeting in the shack at the Pyewipe Inn on 31st May - please note
that this is a change from the originally published date. Members are invited to come to the
meeting to listen to what your committee have been up to since the AGM in January!
