The club was back at the International Bomber Command Centre on 19th May for their Inspire Ride2024 at the IBCC event, which this year paid tribute to the men of Stalag Luft III who took part in the ‘Great Escape’ in March 1944, 80 years ago..

Hundreds of motorcycles arrived at the IBCC for the Inspire Ride, which is a charitable event rasing funds for the IBCC; some riders were also being sponsored to raise funds for mental health and prostate cancer charities. Using the callsign GB5ESC the club was operational on 40m (SSB and CW) and 2m FM, and was fortunate to make 140 contacts in average conditions. This was a very enjoyable Special Event Station activation for all those who took part, blessed with perfect weather conditions, and we would like to thank those radio amateurs who took the time to contact us and showed their interest in the reason for the SES.
