Members of RAF Waddington Amateur Radio Club activated the site of the former RAF Binbrook airfield on the weekend of 1-2 April as part of Airfields on the Air 2023.

We used the Special Event Station callsign GB5BK, as BK was the airfield’s radio ident. in the days when it was operational, operating on HF bands according to conditions with some operation on 2m. We’d like to thank the many stations we had pleasant contacts with, some of them operating outdoors in what were at times quite damp and chilly conditions.

We’d also like to welcome our 2 new members, Andy, M0IYE and Mark, M7DEU, who came up to visit us at Binbroook and joined the club on the spot!
